FAQ

Questions people ask first

If what you need is not here, write to us and a person will answer it.

Still unclear?

A person reads every message. There is no bot on this site.

Does this site cost anything?

No, and there is no version of it that does. Education providers advertise with us, which is how it is funded. We do not take payment details anywhere, and any page that asks you for them is not us.

Do you file the FAFSA for me?

No. We do not file anything on anyone's behalf and we have no access to any application you submit. The FAFSA is filed by you, free, at studentaid.gov. Nobody needs to be paid to submit one.

Can you tell me what I qualify for?

No, and neither can any other website. Eligibility depends on details only the programme and your school's financial aid office hold, and it is decided after you apply. Anyone telling you otherwise before you have applied is guessing.

Are you part of the government?

No. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for the U.S. Department of Education, Federal Student Aid, any state agency or any school. We are a private information site operated by Prospect Digital LLC.

Do you give financial advice?

No. Nothing here is financial, tax or legal advice, and nothing here is a recommendation to take on a particular loan or attend a particular school. For advice about your own circumstances, speak to your school's aid office or a qualified adviser.

Will you call me?

Not unless you hand over a number and tell us to use it. There is no call centre behind this site and nobody is paid per lead. If you send nothing and tick nothing, this site never contacts you.

What do you do with what I send?

It goes to the EDU Aid Network team so a person can answer you. It is not sold, and it is not passed to a school or an advertiser. The privacy policy sets out what is kept and for how long.

Why do you keep linking to studentaid.gov?

Because it is right and we might not be. Figures, dates and rules change between academic years; a page here that restated them would eventually be confidently wrong. Our job is to make that site easier to read, not to stand in front of it.
